Just found myself here
http://www.greenerypress.com/
now I want the crossdressing book *and* the Japanese Rope Bondage book (plus patient willing subject) *and* the New Bottoming Book *and* the Family Jewels book *and* the Turning Pro book (in case the high tech market doesn't recover fast enough :-)
and then I remembered my brithday was coming up so I thought I'd best mention it soon! Though actually I'm prolly too late...

Date: 2002-04-21 04:04 am (UTC)I don't agree; what I've read (Ethical Slut, [New] Bottoming Book, Japanese Bondage, parts of SM101) I've generally found useful and informative. Mind you, I was reading them all from something of a beginner's point of view; I can see why some of them wouldn't be as useful to people who'd been doing poly/SM/bondage for a while.
'The Ethical Slut' pretty much saved me from going crazy over the last year or so, and also helped me get the confidence together to start going to play parties and meet some wonderful new people, I'd recommend it heartily not only to anyone poly or thinking of a poly lifestyle, but to anyone in a relationship; its thoughts on honesty and trust aren't poly-specific.

Date: 2002-04-21 02:43 pm (UTC)For more typical examples look at the Tricks series. Some 'tricks' are duplicated between the books, and the start and end padding - including the incredible plea: 'please don't remember these without buying the book' - is basically the same. So in effect, the first three or four are one decent book split up into several rather less acceptable ones.
They're not the worst (that has to be the second edition of The Guide to Getting It On, which achieved nearly all of its impressive increase in the number of pages - making it look like there was a pile of new material in it - simply by increasing the leading, the space between the lines!) but it's still pretty bad.
