Are they the people do the SM diy book? How to make your own toys/equiptment?
I have that, and it's pretty good. Have also heard good things about their SM 101 book
also...

The rope bondage book is great, and beautiful. I'm currently trying to find a good supplier of large lengths of cotton rope - I have the willing victim already. Want to borrow him?

Willing *and patient*? tempting :-)

Me! Me! Me! *puts hand up*

I'd love you to use me to try these things out...

I'll be ever so good, and I'll do my best not to squiggle ;)

I'm sure he'd be very patient!

Would you like me to bring the book with me to Whitby so you can have a look?

C'mon, I'm still trying to get the knots *out* ;)

I quite like Greenery. But I'd like them even more if they were better value for money. They've got one of the highest cost per useful word rates going.

Fortunately good s/h copies turn up quite regularly in one of the bookshops in London.

I don't agree; what I've read (Ethical Slut, [New] Bottoming Book, Japanese Bondage, parts of SM101) I've generally found useful and informative. Mind you, I was reading them all from something of a beginner's point of view; I can see why some of them wouldn't be as useful to people who'd been doing poly/SM/bondage for a while.
'The Ethical Slut' pretty much saved me from going crazy over the last year or so, and also helped me get the confidence together to start going to play parties and meet some wonderful new people, I'd recommend it heartily not only to anyone poly or thinking of a poly lifestyle, but to anyone in a relationship; its thoughts on honesty and trust aren't poly-specific.

You've picked on most of the exceptions (but check the typography on Slut - you could do it in half the pages, and it'd probably be more readable!)

For more typical examples look at the Tricks series. Some 'tricks' are duplicated between the books, and the start and end padding - including the incredible plea: 'please don't remember these without buying the book' - is basically the same. So in effect, the first three or four are one decent book split up into several rather less acceptable ones.

They're not the worst (that has to be the second edition of The Guide to Getting It On, which achieved nearly all of its impressive increase in the number of pages - making it look like there was a pile of new material in it - simply by increasing the leading, the space between the lines!) but it's still pretty bad.

Curiously enough, I agree with nearly all your choices :), but I wonder if the New Bottoming Book really has enough info to be worth it?

Maybe you're right; it'd be worth looking at someone else's copy first.

But you hold your horses - you already bought me a birthday present! Though it hasn't arrived yet, waah!

Yes, dont worry, I am being frugal. If I had to choose just one of those books, it would be *so* difficult to choose between the bondage one and the CBT one :)....I expect to acquire them both *in time* :), but you really have turned me into a bondage fan.

I will chase up your birthday present, but I dont think it is fourteen days yet?

Also, I guess I better post you some Whitby tickets tomorrow?

OK, I can't remember, and yes please! xxx
