Have bought a Dreamwidth paid account for just one month, because I miss being able to post polls. So to start with one key question:

I believe that LiveJournal users can vote in DreamWidth polls using OpenID, but it would be good to see that confirmed!

I can't remember what made me think of this, but there's a bit in Snow Crash about powers of two, and I wondered if things had changed, and that people deal in higher level stuff than this these days. And it's just striking and a bit weird anyway that some people have had occasion to memorize this stuff, I wondered if you had...

Update: The "powers of two" are just 1+1 = 2, 2+2 = 4, 4+4 = 8, 8+8 = 16 and so on.

Update: it seems like it isn't clear from the above, so for the avoidance of doubt, no-one should feel that they should know this off by heart!

I have got a Nokia N82. It is shiny. I haven't got the GPS to work yet though.

And I've got to transfer across all my contacts. By hand AFAICT. So now's a good time to make sure they're all up to date!

Update: I've now factory-wiped the original phone and given it to

lilithmagna, so I don't need tips on how to sync the address books thanks :-) I've saved a copy of the old address book in case of emergencies, but the only way I've got to extract numbers from it is a hex dump...
