Re webdesign - couldn't agree with that link more. What's more scary is how they teach it to young students.... (All the best webdesigners I know are self taught....) But I'm constantly arguing grounds of accessibility for both as many browsers as possible and people with disabilities.... Boy do the management marketing whizzy designer types hate me ;)))

As to the scary prospank thing. Can I run away and hide for a very long time!!!

I dunno, I thought there was something creepy in them saying 'over-18s', as if they'd been told they had to say it to be legal. And the idea that late teens / 20-somethings still need 'correction' and 'parental discipline' in the form of being put over someone's knee (in a non-SM context) is frankly appalling.

Wow. I feel validated. I've said several times that Netscape 3.02 was the last time any really worthwhile stuff was added.

Having said which, I do know of one site that you need flash to see which does have some information on it - the Young Gods website. It also has one of only a small number of flash animations that I've ever gone back to play with again. I do wish they'd have a flash-free option, though, because I can't see any of it from work without one.

I just downloaded Netscape 2 to test it with my site (to try to confirm my theory that it's only version 4 that breaks). Unfortunately, when you start it up, it tries to go to www.netscape.com, can't handle the Javascript, and crashes.

...but I don't actually see what's so disturbing about the mentor exchange site. As far as I can tell, they're only trying to falicitate meetings between mentors and people who are actively seeking them, and if people feel that they can benefit from that sort of relationship, I don't see the problem.

On the part of both; I think what these people are looking for is a kind of BDSM, but I'm pretty sure that if they saw it that way they'd look for it elsewhere...

Put it this way, if I found a page for people seeking people interested in using consensual punishments to effect desired changes of behaviour on a BDSM website, I wouldn't consider it worrying at all. Maybe it's just my bias against right-wing pro-spanking Christians...

Hi,

I guess that may be the official case, but its still more than a little dodgy. My parents are or were quite into some right-wing christian stuff at various times when I was a kid, and some of the people at their churches have been Scary!!!

I know people who are really into serious heavy duty spanking type stuff or equaly badly emotional blackmail using religion as their justification. I am lucky my parents were always quite sane..... I'm not saying reight-Wing Christian stuff is the only dodgy lot out there, but the fact they are so commonly sanctioned by society as a whole, because of course as Christians (nice mainstream religion) they couldn't possibly be wrong could they.

Maybe I'm too cynical...

Too much evil is done in the name of deities, religion and so called faith.

Shame cos it doesn't reflect well on people who don't use their religion as something evil or manipulative.
