Alternatives to DBAM
Oct. 26th, 2001 11:49 amThis is an example of a mailing list which is gatewayed back and forth to the Web, so you can both read and post without using email. Do people think it's a suitable alternative for other web-based forums? Because it's apparently straightforward to implement using Mailman, which I have running locally.

Date: 2001-10-26 04:57 am (UTC)The second is probably quite hard, and I would be tempted to start using this system first, and try to hack it in cool ways later if I got the time. It would indeed be cool but it would involve learning about the guts of both this system and LJ.

Date: 2001-10-26 05:04 am (UTC)All I mean is that if you indicate to DBAM2 that you are a livejournal user (hmmm... how?), then it adds some extra HTML to your posts that inserts your image and a link to your profile. Zero knowledge of the guts of LJ required (just as well, I downloaded it once and found it hard going for a perlophobe like me).
