I lived on the West coast, given that polling for them doesn't even close till about 4 or 5 am here, and they need another couple hours (at least) to count the votes it seems a bit pointless to stay up, surely it'd make more sense to just wake up early...

Aaaaah, but they didn't count the votes did they. They just called at 0%. One wonders why they bothered voting.

It's funny to go to the BBC and see that it's all still "Predicted" victory for so many states. At least there will be no repeat of 2000.

I did wonder whether McCain is still allowed to challenge a result after his concession speech.

I don't think so. When there were huge question marks in 2000 they all refused to give the speeches and Gore didn't do it till the very end at which point it was all over.

Legally a concession speech has no status and would not bar a court challenge, but in terms of politics going back after a concession speech would play pretty badly with voters.
