Google is one of the wonders of the world. It is a true advance in the state of human management of our knowledge.

When random nutters at parties start to talk to you about the mysteries of the Bible Code, you know they haven't even Googled.

Because two of the first three hits are thorough debunkings.

Google does indeed know all.

On the other hand, when a person starts taking the Bible Code seriously, it's pretty clear that not only have they not Googled, they have not engaged brain (or possibly even grown one). It must be said though, that the Bible Code is an absolute classic of its genre...

Perhaps they've Alta Vista'd instead. Searching for 'bible codes' on www.altavista.co.uk, the first two results are from people who believe in it:

'Underneath the plain text of the Hebrew Tanakh (Old Testament) there is an intricate pattern of hidden codes that are revealed by counting equidistant letter sequences. Instead of reading every character in the normal way, you read every two characters, or every fifty characters, or any interval you might choose. Surprisingly, this reveals a large amount of meaningful text.'

Which is exactly why Google rules but Altavista sucks...

A Google search for "mathew" brings up my web site as the first hit.

Yeah, I'm the first hit on my name too. Actually Google seems to like me rather a lot, which is very pleasing; when I realised I had high Google karma I used my power to kill Mornington Crescent...
