[30/7/01 10:18: on the train home. Hungrily indulging in a train breakfast. ]

I finally got around to writing the diary entries I should have done ages ago that link to [livejournal.com profile] gothslut's rather wonderful accounts of us playing together. Contains links to sexually explicit and very flattering content...

Tuesday: went to Cambridge. Read more... )

A relaxing couple of days, not so much rushing about.

Thursday: I accompanied [livejournal.com profile] ergotia to the dentist's for a check-up, after which we went for a brandy and soda in a gay pub near her office, admired her office, and had a nice meal in a nearby Italian restaurant before heading home. I was asleep before Lily got home; she was handling a homelessness emergency until 1:30am, and was held up on the way home by road rage madness...

Friday: Dropped my laundry off and went into London to buy a new battery for [livejournal.com profile] ergotia and Lily's motherboard; I could probably have got it on Streatham High St but I fancied the trip into town. LJ'd a lot using my Palm. Very relaxed evening with sparkling wine.

Saturday: Party day. I don't tend to write up scenes in any detail, so let me just extend thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth, [livejournal.com profile] ergotia, SC, [livejournal.com profile] lizw, and [livejournal.com profile] djm4, and of course to all the wonderful people there for a fab time and to [livejournal.com profile] countess_sophia for being, as always, the hostess with the mostest. Schedule scariness - I'm barely back from London, and I'm off to Berlin on Wednesday. They might give me some work, too, which would change the shape of my days but would frankly be a very welcome change. I really want a project, and colleagues, and stuff.

My dressing gown (at [livejournal.com profile] countess_sophia's place - how did I manage it?)

My brain charger (looks like a 'phone charger - probably at [livejournal.com profile] ergotia's)

Some T-shirts, socks etc (I had all of them when I did my laundry on the Friday, so I'm confused)

An 8MB CompactFlash cartridge for the camera

The clear plastic guard for my electric razor

1 caribiner with screw closing thingy (at [livejournal.com profile] countess_sophia's)

Probably some other stuff too. How do I manage it? I always think I'm being careful...

But nothing could save our friends across the street, at the school where people were sleeping and where another section of the Independent Media were located. The police entered: the media and the politicians were kept out. And they beat people. They beat people who had been sleeping, who held up their hands in a gesture of innocence and cried out, "Pacifisti! Pacifisti!" They beat the men and the women. They broke bones, smashed teeth, shattered skulls. They left blood on the walls, on the windows, a pool of it in every spot where people had been sleeping. When they had finished their work, they brought in the ambulances. All night long we watched from across the street as the stretchers were carried out, as people were taken to the jail ward of the hospital, or simply to jail. And in the jail, many of them were tortured again, in rooms with pictures of Mussolini on the wall.
