[30/7/01 10:18: on the train home. Hungrily indulging in a train breakfast. ]

I finally got around to writing the diary entries I should have done ages ago that link to [livejournal.com profile] gothslut's rather wonderful accounts of us playing together. Contains links to sexually explicit and very flattering content...

Tuesday: went to Cambridge.

I started the day with a big repair binge at [livejournal.com profile] ergotia's place. Filed the top of the bathroom door til it closed properly, tightened some screws inside the front door lock mechanism so the barrel wasn't loose, replaced the broken handles on the bedroom door and fitted new bulbs in the kitchen. Also bought a fan to keep [livejournal.com profile] ergotia's temperature down. Then off to Cambridge.

[livejournal.com profile] djm4 and Camgoth Karen met me at the station. I had an emotional reunion with my precious black and red Dennis the Menace sweater, and we went for a rather nice Indian meal and talked about communities and relationships and other interesting things that had nearby tables earwigging madly, before setting off for the Calling itself.

Many fine people were to be met at the calling, including Graham Clark, [livejournal.com profile] mrph, and of course [livejournal.com profile] gothslut, whose 20th birthday it was. I took a few photos which I'll try and put on the website - I'm pleased with the one of Tal and Camgoth Karen standing next to each other... Anyway, I drank and danced and chatted as one does at a nightclub, and at the end of the night David drove myself, Camgoth Karen and [livejournal.com profile] gothslut back to his place and had a very fun time indeed as gothslut's account describes better than I possibly could.

Wednesday: [livejournal.com profile] djm4 is truly the most considerate of hosts; [livejournal.com profile] gothslut and I got several hours of lovely sleep thanks to his considerate thought of turning off the alarm the night before... We woke properly when he got home from work later that morning, having been sent home for looking ill, and had Coco Pops for breakfast (this is precisely the kind of intimate detail of my life for which LJ was invented) before going upstairs to play some more, as described in her other wonderful account.

As we were getting it together to leave, [livejournal.com profile] djm4 got the bad news by text message: the Melisma gig that evening had been cancelled because the guitarist, Andreas, had pulled out at the last minute. I was rather gutted, since I had been very much looking forward to seeing them! Instead people were meeting up in a Waterloo to commisserate. So [livejournal.com profile] djm4 and I drove down to London together, dropping off [livejournal.com profile] gothslut on the way, and a very pleasant and companionable journey it was too.

In the pub we found [livejournal.com profile] ajva and [livejournal.com profile] jhg commiserating with [livejournal.com profile] dr_d, [livejournal.com profile] katyha, Jackie, [livejournal.com profile] lolliepopp, and some of [livejournal.com profile] ajva's colleagues; we were later joined by [livejournal.com profile] adjectivemarcus, [livejournal.com profile] countess_sophia, Sandra, and the lovely Lily. It was of course lots of fun to spend time in such lovely company. As each person arrived, the full story of what had happened was re-told; by the end of the evening, drink and an ill-advised text message war with the guilty party (which was partly my fault) culminated in [livejournal.com profile] jhg and [livejournal.com profile] ajva being pretty upset in a way I couldn't deal with, so I bailed out and called Lily from the station; we met up on the street and saw the jilted band members on their way home before heading home somewhat tired and emotional ourselves.
