On anonymous comments

Anonymous comments are enabled for the benefit of people who for one reason or another do not yet have an LJ. They are screened by default. Except where I've explicitly invited them, I do not want and will delete entirely unsigned comments.

I mention this because I just decided to delete rather than unscreen a perfectly harmless (if somewhat pointless) anonymous comment on the SATA thread because it was unsigned...

I imagine you sitting by your computer with a riding crop on one side and Unix in a Nutshell on the other, but to each his own. You can't even know someone through reading their blog - you only know about them what they wish to present to the world, or what they feel like is interesting enough to bother writing about. I at least understand that I'm reading a filtered version of reality and then adding to it my own interpretations. Your closest Unix reference book is likely far larger than the one I guessed ... or maybe you only use online reference sources.

I wish I actually got enough traffic on my blog to even have anonymous comments to delete, but I'm afraid my life is far too boring. "I gardened today, then I had dinner." Woo boy.
