Finding a GP pronto?

Just heard from work - they want a medical certificate for my week of illness. Trouble is I'm in London, and I'm not registered with a GP here. What's the best way to find a GP pronto to get seen for a certificate?
Update: I'm still ill, though recovering pretty well now. I may be well enough to work by tomorrow, but I expect I'll still be able to produce enough barrels of mucus to satisfy any GP that I was Not A Well Bunny...

In either case, get yourself registered with a doctor in London - you're there as much as you're in Edinburgh, and if you're planning to move permanently to London in any case in the near future, it makes sense.

But if you go to nhsdirect, get a list of gp's in the area, and call them up, they'll most likely be able to see you as a one-off if its an emergency even though you're not registered with them.

Date: 2003-04-23 01:07 pm (UTC)I will be getting a GP as top priority when I get to London otherwise I will die. I need regular prescriptions and annual reassessments. I doubt they're allowed to say 'no, not taking new patients' in the face of that.
Under the NHS everyone is entitled to register with a doctor - may not necessarily be the surgery closest to your house, or your first choice, but a doctor within easy reach of your home has to take you.
