*nods* I know I've been seen as a temporary resident when I've needed a doctor or lost my medication away from home. Not all surgeries willdo it, but they will all have details of places in your area that will. Don't know about doing it just to get a doctor's note - if you weren't seen by a doctor while you were ill, your work will likely argue that you can't have been ill enough not to have been working.
In either case, get yourself registered with a doctor in London - you're there as much as you're in Edinburgh, and if you're planning to move permanently to London in any case in the near future, it makes sense.
