I've been commenting other people's LJ & FB posts, mostly. :)
But yes, rather good. Especially Peter Capaldi, although I was also quite fond of the ever-so-eager doctor...
It felt faster paced, more cinematic and - as advertised - on a much bigger scale than the previous stuff. And that was a rather stylish way of dealing with Jack, too...
Well, yes and no. I watch a lot of anime on DVD. Western broadcast TV - not so much. This year I doubt I've seen anything in that line besides a few episodes of Buffy/Angel and a few episodes of Babylon Five. It's a far cry from a lot of people with their season X of BSG (terrible!) and their season Y of House...
Ahem. And about 100 episodes of the Powerpuff Girls. But they're kinda short.
ETA: and when I say a "lot" of anime I suspect these days that is not actually true. We did watch all of BGC but of course that was never a TV series.
No. Formula 1, admittedly. I think that's the only thing I watch in a conventional sort of watching-TV way (albeit on the iPlayer).
Let me anticipate the next question - "but, David, isn't that an odd thing to watch inasmuch as you're an anti-car activist?"
I like action movies too; it doesn't mean I want people to have guns IRL. Obviously F1 is enormously wasteful (but perhaps not so much divided across all the people who watch it) and very much a tool of motor manufacturers; but I don't encourage them to do it by buying any of the products advertised (easy enough, since it's all cars, things for cars, fags (until recently), and banks).
I often forget when things are actually on TV, until someone posts about it on LiveJournal or somewhere. So I'm glad you did :) I started watching Season 3 of Doctor Who about three weeks late, because for some reason no one was posting about it on LJ that year, and it was only when tiamatlady happened to mention it (at first, I didn't believe her that it'd started, as surely someone would have posted about it...)

I used not to watch broadcast TV 'till I got MythTV - I hate not being able to pause it.

Date: 2009-07-10 10:55 am (UTC)It's weird the few times I watch TV on TV these days - I keep getting these brain signals of "hit pause" or "press left arrow to skip back 5 seconds".
