Possible new best thing ever - although as previously stated if you don't already read [livejournal.com profile] bad_science then you are crazy.

I downloaded this, but I simply don't 'get' it. What is it meant to do? Is it like one of those 'incredible machine' games that I could never work out?

I haven't tried it yet, I just watched the linked video...

I've tried it, and it is fun for a while. I managed to make a juggling machine that juggled three balls for a total of five tosses so far.

There's nothing to "get", valkyriekaren. It's a Newtonian physics modeller attached to a drawing package, so the things you draw have mass and inertia.

Right... would this be one of those things where abstract reasoning and spatial awareness are really important? I don't really do too well on those.

I am not going to start playing with that at work, because that would be Silly.

I'm not sure why I'd forgotton to add bad_science before now, but I did think of him this morning as I was buying cough lozenges and actually thought to myself "I'll get the honey flavoured ones, because I bet the taste will make the placebo effect more pronounced."

I've never found cough lozenges do anything other than numb my mouth - yet I still buy them when I have a sore throat!

The trick is holding them far enough back in your mouth so they numb the throat. I can only really manage it when sleeping - during the day I rely on aspirin gargles.

Will watch the Phun video when I get home.

That usually just ends up with me choking on them, unfortunately!

Aspirin tastes disgusting to me. I can't bear to even take the pills, let alone the soluble stuff.

"Free for non-commercial use". Also, no standard licence.

Not that that's going to stop me playing with it, but argh. Stupid!

That is excellent. Thanks

Check out Crayon Physics too! :)

It is very pretty and it has proper game mechanics in addition to the "draw stuff and watch physics happen" mechanic. Though I must admit that the simulator in Phun does more things and looks more (numerically) stable.
