My election swing visualisation tool is now an official LShift project, and is now hosted here:

http://election.lshift.net/

Please spread the word, and let me know what you think!

It might now even work with IE...

I get the page but the picture just gives that little red X in the top left, in a 'can't display the pic' kind of way
[work IE 6.0 again, but usually does video and pics fine]

It doesn't work with the Java that comes with IE, you still need the latest Java plugin from Sun. Sorry!

I think you'll find that's "evil non-standards-compliant Microsoft", thank you very much. They have quite deliberately allowed the version of Java they ship to slip way out of date, because they want Java to die.

...and now Paul learns why no-one writes applets any more.

If it's any consolation, in my last job I had custody of a swign applet (implementing a trading floor). You can imagine how much fun we had with IE users.

Ah, OK, sorry. Could also be that work haven't seen fit to give us all the latest patches/downloads/fixes/all those thingys that my home computer used to tell me I needed when I used IE. Given that they've got enough problems ensuring a power supply to their main server. Just a slight hitch, given that we're currently piloting an online filing system...

So what's M$'s bright solution then if Java ain't it? Not run any programs if they didn't sell you them?

Hmm.. maybe that was too terse...

Microsoft has their own bytecode interpreted language that they are pushing. It is called C#, which is a play on the name of the C and C++ programming languages.

In many ways it is an excellent language, however it has a few little insidious traps that lock you into the MS platform.

"i.e. the Usual M$ strategy!" - yep.

I shall assume this is a fabulous tool. Unfortunately, my appreciation of it is more along the lines of "Oooh! Pretty!", since I doen't have a hope in hell of understanding it.
