Well no, not really. It's slightly more realistic than Lollipop's cyan one (which dispenses sweets), but it's not actually realistic.

Not much consolation.

I was amazed to see that it wasn't being legitimately sold in the US.

Hey! That's jhg's cyan sweetie dispenser in the shape of a phone - a pressie from my parents Christmas 1999, which I picked out specially from Nardini's sweetie display in Largs, thank you very much.

He doesn't seem to like it much, though, come to think of it. Ho hum.

According to the article it's built in the gutted shell of a real cell phone, which would strike me as looking fairly realistic (except that airports always make me turn on my cell phone [and other electronic miscellany] to make sure it's not a bomb anyway, and these won't turn on).

Also, these would be very illegal in most, if not all of the U.S. (I can think of three or four laws that they'd be covered under but all but one is state and not federal) contrary to popular belief -- both inside and outside of the U.S., guns are actually rather restricted here. Much more so than cars or knives or other deadly weapons.

After posting the last bit, i remembered a story about Mossad persuading a dissedents uncle to give the "terrorist" a bugged mobile phone as a birthday present.

So birthday boy receives a phone call on new phone, then it blows up.

Dunno how true it is/was
