If I wanted for some reason to buy a purple T-shirt in central London on my way home tonight, where would I be best advised to go?

Uniqlo. It's in the Plaza on Oxford Street.

There's a very good shirt shop at Holborn, just north on the north-east corner of the junction. I recommend them for cheap t-shirts in all the colours and all the sizes.

Old Compton St?

I shall be wandering round Soho from about half-six to half-seven if that's of any interest to you...

If all else fails try the big M&S near Bond Street tube - they're open till 9pm IIRC and are bound to have purple T shirts though I dare say they'll be more expensive than elsewhere.
