STOP PRESS: SM Pride 2001 Suffers Anti-SM Discrimination

Evening Venue pulls out at last minute See BALL for details

http://www.smpride.org/index2/ball.htm

There's a mini-ball at Conway Hall that goes on 'till midnight. After that - Slimelight, anyone? It'll be the 10th anniversary of my getting laid - so maybe I should just go home with the usual 100% cute people and shag...

Was anyone actually planning to go to that? It's always seemed to have been marked 'expensive and to be avoided' before, and generally other people have had better ideas. Last year we all went to Duckie in full fetish gear.

This year there's Nick and Lizzy's stag and hen night which a lot of people are going to. I'm sure you'd be welcome, but I think I overheard various people at Kitty's planning to do something that wasn't the SM Pride Ball.

See you at SM Pride, anyway.

Personally, I want everyone to come to Nick and Lizzy's do, since I'm organising it.

However, it looks like the afternoon paintballing may be off, so I might be able to come on the SM Pride march, which I haven't been on before.

... oh, and Nick and Lizzy's party is taking place at a gay-friendly venue 10 minutes walk from Slimelight, and will finish at midnight or so. So people could go on afterwards if they wanted.

I shan't be there myself since (a) I don't go to events that celebrate legal marriage any more, and (b) I'm not sure I know Nick and Lizzy anyway (do I?). But it sounds like I might be seeing people at the Slime afterwards!

Lizzy Bryant? Ex of Coventry.

You do know her. She knows you.

Is that the one who had a committment ceremony at biCon, or am I *really* confuzzled now?

With the rubber dress and the tin of custard? No, that was Miserable Lizzie. (Harris?) Of Hull.

Tucker was seeing two Lizzies/ys at the time.

Hilarity ensued.

Ah, I have a mental picture now. I wonder if it's of the right person ..?

(embarrassed - I must learn all those mnemonic tricks people use to bind names to faces...)

Used to share a Coventry house with me & other folks, once upon a time. Switches between a Fyfe accent and "BBC English" at whim. Smokes - or, at least, did when I last saw her. Has been known to sing Gilbert and Sullivan songs at people. Can quote pretty much the whole of Stoppard's "Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead" from memory, and will do so at the slightest provocation. Wicked sense of humour, generally fun person. :-)

(Does that help, or just confuse things even more?)

Fair enough. I enjoyed the ball last time I went, but that was a long time ago... I had been determined to go last year until I heard that "Master Keith" was running it.

I guess I'll find out the plan from the Kitty crew then...

We have done the ball in the past, for reasons including the sentimental one that it was after the ball five years ago that Lili and I first shagged our adorable main squeeze - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. But it was always going to be a problem this year because of "Master" Keith's involvement. I dont do weddings and anyway I would not miss SM Pride for a wedding, so Slimie seems likely, but have you been since they added the third dance floor? Anyway, at Kitty's on Saturday we were all making vague noises about an alternative event, so watch this space....

Well, I'm doubly cursed with SM pride events - not only the Keith connection (sorry, can't even bring myself to use the M word in print), but also SM Pride 1999 was when I started seeing Mr Tregant...

Mmm, had this conversation with Kitty on the 'phone the other day. I think the "Master" tag is sort of handy; if I refer to a "Master Brian", you know straight away that they're a twat...

Anyway, SM Pride isn't Spanner. The money they raise isn't going to the Spanner Trust, it's going to SM Pride to organise SM Pride.

Conway Halls isn't licenced, as far as I recall. This means £7 for an evening with no bar in what feels horribly like a school hall and classrooms.

If they were charging ?2.50 on the door, I might be tempted to go anyway, for a quick pre-Slime play. For ?5.00 they can fuck off.
