It's always fun to have a huge notice - whether it's needed or not. And it's no good going for just a *name* - you need something really embarrassing and a whole mob of people to surround the unfortunate one you're meeting.

That's from the Marna's father guide to meeting people from planes. The other way to do it is to be an hour late and keep your mobile turned off.

Last time I met someone of a plane (and I knew what they'd look like) I made a sign saying 'Godot' and then mingled with the other sign holders.

It got a few double takes, one call of "He's delayed", one guy who asked me if I knew about the play and one small boy asking "Daddy, why are laughing at that man?"
