No-one uses 10BASE-2 (coax) Ethernet any more, do they? I have loads of the cable but I suspect I might as well throw it away.

(Updated with correction - thanks to [livejournal.com profile] drreagan and others!)

Coax is 10Base-2, not 10Base-T (twisted pair)

Justin may be interested in it, I think Emmental is still on 10-base2.

I skipped a big bag of it a while back, and fund a home for my crimping tools...

Presuming you mean 10base-2, then yes - my work does. So whenever a connection is lose, the whole network falls over...

It'd be good to have some spares, especially if it comes with t-connectors.

ooh, you poor person. I pity you. We used to use it in my old flat, but I've upgraded and subsequently moved long since.

You still have an error, by the way; the title still reads wrong.

It may be a little rigid for weaving into hair, its quite similar to the cable that runs between your tv & video..

It's still used for CATV ant DTV, so if you've got either of those in your life, you may need it...

Other than that, I've always thought that you could make some to structures with enough terminators and T-bits... :-)

TV uses 75-ohm impedance cable, 10base2 uses 50-ohm. TV may work on 50-ohm cable but you'll lose some signal (but then, TV mostly works on mains cable for short distances); 10base2 doesn't like 75-ohm at all.

it tends to be black or white and I think by the time you'd stripped out the copper core and rigid inner plastic it would be prety messy; with the innards it doesn't bend enough to plait. the smallest coil you can make is is probably 3" diameter.

If I had loads of time, I might deconstruct some to get copper for jewellry/playing with, but I think it would take ages and be hard on the fingers
