Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] tsenft.

Who on your LJ friends list writes well here about the general questions about how to live?

I'll start with [livejournal.com profile] pavlos and [livejournal.com profile] thekumquat (as well as of course [livejournal.com profile] purplerabbits) - what are your nominations?

(aside: Still not enough air. I shall try another fan near the window so I'm not just blowing the stale air about... back soon.)

Before making any ethical decisions I think to myself, "But what would [livejournal.com profile] ajva and [livejournal.com profile] djm4 do?"
I then attempt to fit somewhere in between.
NB ->

You, sir, owe me a keyboard! ;-)

But Marcus! That's such a fine line! However to you do it ?! :oP

P.S. I have come to the conclusion that my role in this kind of thing is to suggest such utterly outrageous solutions that it raises (/lowers?) the average, thereby encouraging people to do something only slightly more outlandish than they were thinking of. Maybe this is some kind of weird public service. I hope so. That's how I'm justifying it to myself anyhows. :o)

[livejournal.com profile] djm4 is usually very thoughtful on such matters.

All of my partners (and I count myself very fortunate that that's the case).

Apart from them, I second the nomination of [livejournal.com profile] purplerabbits. Both [livejournal.com profile] ajva and [livejournal.com profile] ergotia tend to say what they believe rather than what they think you want to hear, which is valuable (and I agree with them more than is sometimes apparent). [livejournal.com profile] clairaide often has great insight, and finds ways of looking at thinks that I miss.

And on the rare occasions that [livejournal.com profile] pleonastic can be persuaded to offer advice, I've learned to listen. Zie's a lot more active on DJ and alt.poly, though.

Hmm, yes, [livejournal.com profile] ergotia's own journal is mostly fun stuff, but when others ask for advice, she's often very good at telling people the serious things they may not want to hear! And as you say the same goes for [livejournal.com profile] ajva.

Why thank you, that sounds like me! I think if *I* tried to use my lj to talk about how to live, it would come out as pontificating.............

Yes, and I'm going to become a professional pontificator, sort of...

Still, I've always fancied the title Grand Pontiff...

Well [livejournal.com profile] lizw, [livejournal.com profile] djm4 and [livejournal.com profile] trishpiglet often make insightful comments but then lots of other people do as well. Some people are very new to my fiends list so I shall have to wait and see what they have to say.

Humm, for some reason [livejournal.com profile] purplerabits isn't on my friends list but her essays on poly are very good.

"To thine own self be true. The rest is commentary".

But seriously, it's a good question: it's just that I don't tend to look at LJ to answer such questions....

Thirding or fourthing [livejournal.com profile] purplerabbits. Also, and understand these are particular to me, [livejournal.com profile] lizw, [livejournal.com profile] trishpiglet and [livejournal.com profile] kboyd.

...~blinks~ Apparently I don't trust the advice of men. Um, it wasn't meant to come out that way. ~g~

Generally they all say supportive things instead of good advice, but i find [livejournal.com profile] glensc and of course [livejournal.com profile] lucifer_dot_com.

Wasn't aware I'd been saying anything incredibly profound. Any examples?

Well, I've been enjoying reading about your difficulties dealing with your family; it seems like you think about these things clearly...
