Digital TV decoders?

Has anyone bought a digital TV decoder for terrestrial TV, cable, or satellite in the last few years? I mean actually bought, rather than having one foisted on you by a provider? How did you decide what to buy? As some of you may know, I work for a set-top-box manufacturer, so I'm curious to know whether any of my software might one day end up in your living rooms... cheers!

When I bought mine (as part of a prepaid package, so it felt like buying something even if the thing technically doesn't belong to me) there were two models in the shop. Nokia and Panasonic. I went for the Nokia, as everyone likes their cellphones.
