2002-07-29 Streatham 0547 Thameslink 0559 Elephant and Castle then Bakerloo line to Paddington 0640 Heathrow Express 0655 LHR-2 0735 LX359 1005 GVA

Ah, the 7.35 to Geneva. I remember it well...

Does that mean you now have a passport?

Yes indeed! I've updated to that effect.

I don't look very good in my passport photo though; no time to get a good one!

Hmm, this Friday we're off to see [livejournal.com profile] indo_icegirl and her band, Sunday Driver, at the Spice Of Life in Soho at 9ish. So I'm not sure who'll be in the LL...

2002-07-29 GVA 1825 LX356 1915 LHR-1 1947 Heathrow Express 2003 Paddington then Hammersmith and City line and walk to Kings Cross Thameslink 2035 Thameslink 2104 Streatham

You sure you don't mean HEX to Paddington, then Bakerloo to Elephant, then Thameslink? Slightly more direct, and the H&C is notoriously slow.

2002-07-29 Streatham 0547 Thameslink 0606 Farringdon then Bakerloo/Circle/District line to Paddington 0640 Heathrow Express 0655 LHR-1 0735 LX359 1005 GVA

Similar comment applies. And how were you planning on getting the Bakerloo from Farringdon?

Further alternative: Sit at Heathrow for fifteen years, watching them build Terminal 5. Get CrossRail to Farringdon/Barbican (or HEX to Paddington then CrossRail if CrossRail doesn't serve Heathrow by then), and pick up Thameslink there.

Yes, I'm sad.

Those were Railtrack's recommendations, except I probably got it wrong in transcription. Hurmm... From Paddington, it's 6 stops to KX, 7 to Farringdon, 11 to E&C. It's 14 minutes between KX and E&C on Thameslink, so that suggests your route will be faster even leaving aside the speed difference between the two lines. OK, I'll do it your way. Update to come. Thanks!

Faster still, if Streatham Common or Streatham Hill are ok:

Railbus to Feltham, then train to Clapham Junction, change there for Streatham Common/Hill. This also avoids zone one.

I'm in Tooting now which is right next to Streatham...
