Unless you go with a note-sized device, you're just going to have to live with the pain that is PDF reading on a mobile device. Apps like ezPDF reader are fine, but no app can fix how irritating it is to move around zoomed in on text (Unless I'm mistaken).
The LG G2 has a very small bezel, maximising the screen ratio to phone size, so that might be a good compromise. The device itself is pretty well specced, but I think it comes with a boatload of LG preinstalled crudware. (I'd unlock and flash a stock rom, if available).
Maybe hang on, see what the Nexus 5 will bring? If Google subsidise it as much as they did for the N4 (which I think is sold out now), that might be a winner.
