I found these by browsing through http://www3.ietf.org/proceedings/06nov - there might be more there of interest. http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-pkix-srvsan-04 might be useful, http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4785 could be a performance improvement.
