The IP/SSL linkage is an artifact of SSLv2, which is now turned off by default in IE7 and FFx2. So when the next versions of those come out, they can start sending Upgrade: headers in the request along with the Hostname: header, so multiple TLS certs can exist on the one IP - http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2817

You can't do this until SSLv2 dies out because it causes it to choke or something.
