asrana just asked me what I thought a clique was, and pointed me at this thread. I answered "I'd say that a clique is a group that is closed to new people on principle, or that goes out of its way to let people know that they aren't part of the group", before coming over here to read your post, and was then amused to find that we seemed to have picked out the same two criteria.
