Down with the fish!

A fish just swam across my screen.
Wanda the GNOME fish, to be precise.
It took maybe 20 seconds to cross the screen. In that time, I managed to fire up xkill, and took three potshots at it, I think I hit all three times but it somehow didn't die; I don't know if there's some weird interaction with the SHAPE extension there. I don't know how to make a window survive xkill. I knew I'd seen it before, and it turns out to be Wanda the GNOME fish, as I can confirm by running the GNOME "fortune" applet.
This means that something I'm running has some stupid Easter Egg built in, but I'm damned if I can work out what. It's not LoserJabber, which was my first thought; or if it is, they've hidden the string "fish" in the sources.
Bah. I don't expect my software to piss me about, even rarely.
(Update: I found it. It's in the Gnome Panel, and it was put there by George Lebl. *sigh*.
