Haven't had time for an update today. I must put my Sudafed next to the bed so I can face getting up... But I still hope to write up Friday, Saturday and Sunday at some point.

Today I'm off for dinner with Ben Laurie, Apache supremo and fab guy.

Still liking this London thing. But I must get around to mailing [livejournal.com profile] bootpunk and asking how you turn the heating on during the day...

Must make time to properly study very interesting new stream cipher/MAC system by most of the Twofish team: Helix

Update Had fab dinner. Came home, chatted to [livejournal.com profile] atommickbrane, bed now.

Very happy!

Heat is for wimps! Want a taco?

I'm sorry, but I am SO BORED that seeing a new post on my friends list is making me want to hug you.

But not if you are germ ridden.

Do y'all have 12 and 24 hour pseudoephedrine there in Britain?

As for the heat, do you at least have decent insulation? Worst thing I remember about living over there was that in so many places the heat was gone within 10 minutes of turning off the furnace!

Don't worry, snogged so many people on Saturday that all of London now has my germs...

I can't take getting ANOTHER cold on top of my mentalist barely-coping state right now - that's it, I'm going to ground, where's the nearest bunker?

hah. didn't they tell you? it's part of the charm. not to mention vague mumblings about being "character-building". and this is another of the many reasons why i whinge that i preferred Hong Kong - except that (tbh) HK could get even colder in winter due to lack of anything even remotely resembling central heating *grin*

Character. Yah. First place I stayed (thankfully only for 3 weeks, and one of them I was mostly at someone else's place) had a huge window right above the bed and the heat only on for a couple hours in the morning. After I left for work. I'd huddle my robe over the fan heater after I got out of the shower in the morning. Wore long underwear under sweats under 2 duvets and was still unbearably cold.

OTOH, I learned about hot water bottles while I was there. Makes a good bedwarmer. MMM. Hot water bottle. I think I'll have one tonight.

Why were you in Hong Kong? What was it like?

*wry smile* yes. two duvets and a woolly blanket and two pairs of socks and... *nods* yup. and thermal underwear might not look sexy, but thank gods that it can keep you warmer!

and i was in Hong Kong because i was born there *smiles*

London may be good, but it meant you missed the oppurtunity of laughing at me when I fell over rather comically (and humiliatingly) on Saturday night!

That's only because it's sadly not considered polite to instantly whip out the digicam and post a record of the occasion to the net...

Were you wearing your amazing new high heeled boots? And what were you dancing to?

I wasn't dancing to anything at this particular point, I was merely walking. I was indeed wearing my pretty boots, but I think the falling was a mixture of these, alcohol and inborn clumsiness. If someone had whipped out a digicam however, my boots would have been making contact with very delicate bits of their anatomy.

Alas, there is no heat! When the electrics went, the heat and the oven followed suit (both electric). Sorry dahhling. I suggest a thick, fluffy dressing gown and wooly socks. Ooh, and hot chocolate.
