No-one else need care, really, but here it is anyway. I have just bought tickets for my Whitby journey as follows (and update the tickets have arrived):

Original Adult Full Fare: 42.00 GBP (2 Adults @ 21.00 GBP)

If you're travelling from Edinburgh, get an Apex fare - there are so few trains between here and there that you don't have much choice about trains anyway, and they're much cheaper.

I'm getting a lift both ways, courtesy of [profile] alexkells and [personal profile] jero. They're staying with me on Wednesday night, then we're going up on Thursday. Let's just pray it doesn't flood this year...

At least it's cheap! As long as you make all the connexions (at least you're not going with Virgin) it shouldn't be too long a journey either. You might even get some pretty countryside to look at too...

It's also not on the damned bus - railtrack.co.uk keeps suggesting we take the bus for part of the route, which does not sound like fun to me!

Yay! Majorly looking forward to Whitby now, despite financial stresses. There will be lots of very wonderful people there, many of whom will be wearing catsuits, I gather.

I hadn't planned on wearing my catsuit, since I wore it in November. But of course I can bring it especially for private viewings if you like :-)

WHitby's my home town, so it's kind of weird to talk to you guys. Have you any *idea* how much we used to laugh at the Goths when we were younger? They're like all the other tourists except they dress weirder and spend less. When you grow up and realise that Dracula's a crap novel, not seminal and wasn't *really* written in Whitby, the whole thing gets doubly strage.

Anyway go and love the place and say hi for me - I don't get back enough. Hope you enjoy.

Whitby does bloody well out of the Gothic weekend (which has, of course, nothing to do with Dracula at all). The hotels and guesthouses and cottages are all booked out - and all those goths have to eat, after all. I think the event may have grown a wee bit since you were a lad...

Oh and do you know how rude your comment sounded - was that intentional?

Mmm, no, it wasn't. It was meant to be a mildly irritant barb without any real rudeness, but that's quite a difficult line to tread in txt and I should have known better than to try.

Apologies.

Well, you succeeded in being irritating as you intended, but I accept your apology.
