what shall we do tonight?

Me and [livejournal.com profile] purplerabbits haven't made plans for the weekend, apart from Saturday afternoon. Want to leave the house! But where to?

Your weekend should include a trip to Bonsai. At least purplerabbits expressed interest.

...on another note, any plans for tonight? We tried to call, but I'm guessing you're still dialled out...

Duh! I should read the postings more carefully. I thought you were asking what to do in the weekend, not tonight. In the end I went to see a late of "Y tu mama tambien", which I recommend. It's a film that manages to be pleasantly light and nearly-pornograpic at one level, while at the same time very emotionally serious and thought provoking at another.

Bonsai is a very nice, not stupidly expensive Japanese restaurant in what would be called East Nicolson Street if Edinburgh had been planned with any sense. See post by jinxremoving. Very good food, very authentic, the whole place smells of cooking oil andeverything tastes of fish, including theaubergines. Like in Japan.

Bugger. I saw the thread on ed.general and thought "Oh. Hmm..." and other interested-type noises. I like Japanese food, but have a problem with most sorts of fish. I'd been looking forward to trying there with [livejournal.com profile] gothtart ([livejournal.com profile] tigermoth doesn't really like Japanese food, anyway - unless you count the bento boxes at Yo! Below).
