Security problems? Update Windows!

Windows Update uses ActiveX Controls and active scripting to display content correctly and to determine which updates apply to your computer.

To view and download updates for your computer, your Internet Explorer security settings must meet the following requirements:

Security must be set to medium or lower
Active scripting must be set to enabled
The download and initialization of ActiveX Controls must be set to enabled
Note These are default settings for Internet Explorer.

Unfortunately, Wine won't work for everything.

I particularly doubt that audio stuff works with Wine-on-FreeBSD, and, since apart from odd games (and Word doc hacking-about for clients *spit*), sequencing with Melody Assistant is about all I use Windoze for, that's the big problem.

In a similar vein, apparently www dot crackmonkey dot org contains some HTML which uses a buffer overflow attack to attempt to render Windows unbootable when browsed with IE. View source in Mozilla looks damn suspicious, but I don't want to break my work PC. Anyone have a sacrificial PC they want to test?
