Well, everyone underestimated his campaigning strength; maybe we're also underestimating his effectiveness in office. Although depending on his policies, maybe I don't want him to be too effective (I have no idea what his policies are, except that he doesn't like bendy buses).

If I understand the numbers, only 45% of valid votes for the other candidates validly transferred. I'm surprised by how low that is.

[identity profile] olethros.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, I forgot that the 45pc would not include those votes transferred to another eliminated candidate.

Or those that only voted for one candidate.

This is a disaster :(

The only positive outcome would be if he takes it as a part time job, as he takes his other positions, so he will spend more time on his main career of self publicity and won't be in City Hall enough to do too much damage.

More realistically, I expect four years of national embarassment, thievery and neglect ahead at City Hall while Boris tries to parlay his new job into a cabinet rank in the likely next Tory government.

I think you'd perhaps enjoy this take on the election

Whilst I am by no means a fan of the labour party, I do fail to see how this can be good for London.
