A petition we can all get behind

A great man once said "Since the beginning of time, man has yearned to destroy the Sun".

Please add your name to this worthy cause.

Nooooooooooo! I love sun!

But my new tan has me dressing like a drag queen every day. Why give that up?

I appreciate that lots of people love it and the long light evenings are lovely blah blah blah but for as long as I can remember I have been ill whenever it is hot and sunny. I get headaches, my eyes itch and water constantly, I get agonising sinusitis. Last night I had severe nausea and dizziness after being out of the house for maybe two hours. My blood sugar is much much harder to stabilise in the summer with all the complications that go with that.

I know all about shady hats, sunblock, shades, parasols and staying hydrated and I still find June and July difficult and August pretty much unbearable.

I have some mobility issues with the diabetes anyway but these are much worse in the summer. Whatever weight I am this remains the same.

I am also of course full of Goth affectations and think pale is beautiful but when you rave about how great the summer is do spare a thought for the disabled.

I have done my civic duty and signed. :-)

Thank you for the opportunity to voice my displeasure of this life-sucking heat.

*giggles*

Mind you, I can't countenance its actual destruction as I am rather fond of eating the plants it causes to grow. I'd be more in favour of a petition to make it less hot. Or to create a better sun, one which isn't hot and doesn't burn and isn't too bright but still does all the important things. Can we have a petition for Sun Mark II? Sun V 2.0? Oops, might be intellectual property issues there...

Not to mention the problem of constantly being woken up by sun shining through the bedroom window curtains at 3:30am (well, up here in Aberdeen anyway), thus interupting my sleep pattern, thus making me tired at work the following day and thus creating the potential for me to fall asleep at work and be caught sleeping at work...should I sue the Sun?

I've just joined live journal and am trying to make friends with people with similar interests. I hope you don't mind that I've added you as a friend?

PS I'll sign the petition!

Sorry, to expand, cos I'm being a bit random, I've joined some communities and am clicking through some people in those communities and this post just made me laugh.

Marquis de Sade wasn't it? Or rather, one of his characters, the loathsome banker Durcet (The 120 Days):-

"Ah, how many times, by God, have I not longed to be able to assail the sun, snatch it out of the universe, make a general darkness; or use that star to burn the world."

Which sounds awfully - even spookily - like Oppenheimer.
