Global warming skeptics

I've become hooked on Tim Lambert's "Deltoid" blog (syndicated as deltoid_feed) and in particular his coverage of global warming skepticism. If you're familiar with the way creationists argue you'll recognise the style of the people Lambert tirelessly refutes. It's fascinating and strangely compelling reading, not only to better understand climate change but as a great study in science and how it is misrepresented by special interests.

Have read quite a few bits on the creationism thing (we had some gumph pushed through our letter box this morning) i think the most irritating thing of it all is the way they completely misconstrue the usage of the word "theory"

Yes! Evolution is a theory in the same way that heliocentrism is.

Ernst Mayr gives a good explanation of the different components of Darwin's original theory of evolution and how each of those components are regarded now. I read his summary in his book "What Makes Biology Unique?", which is very good. He also wrote a book called "What Evolution Is" that discusses it in more detail, which I haven't read.
