Calling Edinburgh peeps TONIGHT!

People of Edinburgh! Tonight, you are blessed with a rare opportunity to meet the fabulous spikeylady!

She's in Edinburgh overnight to go to a conference tomorrow, and is looking for things to do/people to see tonight. I've tried to recommend pubs and restaurants, but I'm hoping she'll also get to see something of some of the lovely people I got to know in my time living there.

Unfortunately, several of us are off to a solstice bash. Hopefully, though, this is a good long way from being all of us.

So I hear! Never mind. You're probably the best person to ask my other question, which is: what restaurant would you recommend to a fellow veggie? Somewhere within the orbit of the Parliament and the Hoose. I've recommended Kalpna, but perhaps I'm behind the times?

The only time I've been to the Kalpna recently it's still been excellent, or there's the Ann Purna just over the road. Pancho Villa's on the Canongate is still very good (Mexican, obviously), or there's also Viva Mexico on Cockburn Street. I haven't been to David Bann's, but I think I heard good reports - their menu's online, and they're just off the Royal Mile, most of the way down from the World's End towards the bottom of the Pleasance. Dario's is good but further away. The Marque, on causewayside, isn't a veggie restaurant but I've not been disappointed by their vegetarian dishes when I've been there with my folks.

Not been for a while, but friends tell me that David Bann's is as marvellous as ever. Not cheap, but very good.

Henderson's was also good last time I was in E, but I'm hearing mixed reports of it these days.
