Wouldn't surprise me even slightly. Clearchannel are the sort of company that give rapacious capitalist egomania a bad name.

[identity profile] vvalkyri.livejournal.com 2004-11-23 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's odd, yeah. But as a privately held company Clearchannel can do whatever they want to - there's no law saynig you can't put the president's picture on a billboard.

BTW, I don't know how late it's okay to call you...

I'd tell you, but then I'd be lying to both of us.

Ooh, so you're reading [livejournal.com profile] ciphergoth's blog now? Pretty good for a girl with no internet access!

I never said I didn't have internet access. I said my laptop is dead. There is lots of bandwith here, I am just forced to use the desktop to get to it. :(

Any sufficiently advanced political lunacy is indistinguishable from satire.
Corollary: Any political system indistinguishable from satire is advanced lunacy.

It's no longer safe to assume that there's anything Bush (or his ilk) wouldn't do. About the only worthwhile response is to get as far away from his likely radius of effect as possible. Hence, I assume, the increased interest in private spaceflight.

But at least all the current claims of conspiracy are only theories. Like the theories of evolution, gravitation or relativity, no-one really believes them.

SIEG HEIL!

(ClearChannel can put anything not offensive or defamatory on a billboard they own, just like me. They just own more billboards and are a bunch of scary control freaks.)

[identity profile] devilgate.livejournal.com 2004-11-24 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Many would say that that is offensive, though.

Sweet mother of GOD!! I shouldn't be surprised tho. The suberbs of NY are like 1930's Germany.

I have to bite my tongue ALOT when I'm over there.

Hugs

Oy. Next we'll have big banners of his smiling face above the podium when he speaks. Perhaps we should be calling him Chairman, or Chancellor Shrub.

BTW, have you seen this article? From our very own hometown rag. Apparently has gotten quite a bit of attention around the country...it's a good read.

Interesting article, though I'm not sure the best response is for Democrat-voting towns and cities to become insular.

This one is in Knoxville, Tennessee. [livejournal.com profile] syntheticganesh lives in Knoxville and says it's scarier in person.

I'd like to know who the 'our' in 'our leaader' refers to, the 'faceless' company? All of its' employees or just some wanker who receives some republican government grant.

Also, anyone else here going to "The Nightmare A'fore Cristmas" in Edinburgh this year? It'll be the first chance I'll have had to get to it *YAY*.

[identity profile] uon.livejournal.com 2004-11-24 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I found "One Nation, Under God (a reminder)" just as if not more disturbing.
