Sausage attack band-aided

A public information announcement - the current crop of sausage attack memes will no longer work thanks to a temporary fix by LJ staff. I'm sure a longer-term fix is on the way.

I know because it's personally saved me from being caught by one...

Fab news.... :D

Does this also stop the friends/edit.bml type ones?

I don't know. I'm sure the LJ staff are at the very least aware of them and working on it, though.

It's a page with an html form with the same parameters as the livejournal update form, that gets filled in and submitted automatically, with javascript, posting something to your LJ. First one was at least kinda interesting because it also made a list of whose LJ you got clicked on it from, so you could trace it all the way back to its inventor, but the newer variants have just posted something pointless or abusive.

I've completely missed out on this thing, not being the kind of meme-thing I'd touch with a barge-pole anyway, but I've noticed a number of folks on my friends-list posting sausage-stuff.

I feel I should tell them something about these (as they don't have you on their list) but... what do I tell them?

Is there a post somewhere saying what exactly has happened (well, maybe not too exact), and what to do about it?
