It's been a lovely day, and it's OK!

The Damned last night were bloody brilliant. Tight, good showman, still strong on stage and Dave Vanian's voice is still rather good. Even the banter wasn't too bad. It just came across really strongly that they were having a damn good time. I wish I knew more of their material now, but stuff I knew included Elouise, Love Song, Antipope, New Rose, I Feel Alright; they played a Doors cover halfway through Neat Neat Neat, Captain Sensible started the first encore knocking off a quick version of Happy Talk, and they invited loads of the crowd onto the stage to finish with Smash It Up.

I'm very proud of having managed to slam-dance right in the middle of the pit at the front of the gig, surrounded by massive bald punk guys, for most of the fast ones I knew, in a skirt and high heeled boots. Go me. Sadly I didn't manage to get onstage for the end; the bouncers were fighting hard to stop the rush of people who started climbing on when he announced it, and I just didn't fancy my chances...

We arrived at the Spa at around 10, Lisa and Lili queued at the bar for literally around 40 minutes, and we decided to split not long after the set finished, so I didn't get to do half as much running around chatting to folk and talking photos as I usually do; apologies to anyone who saw me early on and wondered what happened to me. But after lovely drinks with [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth and assembled lovely people, we headed back to ours for fab reunion kinky fun.

The weather is the best I've ever known for a WGW, lots of clear skies and sunshine. That and the above, and sharing a cottage with my partners (remoteness not at all the problem I feared) and arriving really early so I'm chill enough by Friday nght to enjoy it, is all adding up to my best Whitby ever. I say that every time of course: maybe I'm just getting better at it.

Today we plan to have a relatively quiet day, getting back home to start getting ready *really* early. I'm not going to try and see any of the bands tomorrow, just socialize and taking pictures and handing out business cards for Wyte Phantom to everyone who says "where did you get that fantastic dress?"...

I find it hard enough to dance in a mosh pit wearing heavy army boots. I can't imagine what it would be like in high heels (and knowing me I'm not going to try soon either).
