Slimelight rah!

Had a fab Slimelight. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ergotia, [livejournal.com profile] lilithmagna, [livejournal.com profile] spikeylady, [livejournal.com profile] bootpunk, [livejournal.com profile] julietk, [livejournal.com profile] gemoon, [livejournal.com profile] babysimon for a fab evening, good also to see [livejournal.com profile] valkyriekaren, [livejournal.com profile] morgan99, [livejournal.com profile] __prawnstar__, [livejournal.com profile] bluehelen, [livejournal.com profile] kjersti, [livejournal.com profile] latexiron, and to meet [livejournal.com profile] vulture23. I had an incredibly lazy day so barely managed to dress up, but pulled on my tradgoth outfit and did makeup at the last minute, with [livejournal.com profile] spikeylady supplying fab eyeliner decorations. We didn't take photos, fools that we are; we regretted it as soon as we stepped out into the POURING FUCKING RAIN to get the bus to the station. Did a certain amount of dancing (I really need more exercise) and watched *lots* of cute boi-on-boi snogtastic action - it was the queerest Slimelight I've ever been to. I was tickled by the "yeah, we're queer, get used to it" look one of the boys gave me - I don't know if they noticed me and [livejournal.com profile] lilithmagna getting it on not long after. Headed back to St. P when crash time came, sat up lazily chatting while [livejournal.com profile] julietk made us noodles, then caught the Tube home as soon as it opened.

Am off to the Dev later, there hopefully to see [livejournal.com profile] lucybond for the first time in, er, something approaching ten years, along with [livejournal.com profile] cavalorn (who AFAIK I have never met) and various other disreputable goths. Rah!

Does anyone else use "yer man" to mean something like "that man", as in "yer man didn't play Covenant this time" referring to a taxi driver whose name you don't know?

*wholeheartedly approves of hostage taking activities ;)*

I've heard 'yer man' quite frequently. A number of Irish peple I've met seem to use it.

It's a fairly standard Northern Irish-ism (dunno if it's as common in the South). I didn't realise this until I moved to England..

Well my Mum's from Mullingar, which AFAICR is somewhere in the middle, so I think it must be common across Ireland.

Certainly seems to be - I'm a Dubliner and hear it a lot.

Ah, that would explain why no-one else understands it when I use it. Naturally, it's an expression I picked up from my parents...

You have a taxi driver who plays Covenant?!

Say hi to Gonzalex for me...

Yep! Known to the Slimelight staff. But he wasn't in his regular cab this time so he didn't have his collection of Goth Favourites to keep us all happy :-)

So that's how it's done.
Unfortunately we are short on kidnappable penguins here.

Like they say, "yer man" is Irish. "Yer one" is also used in reference to a woman.

Well, you saw us :)

And we saw him. Nice to know that he does, in fact, exist.
