Geiger counter

I don't suppose anyone out there has access to a radioactive source and a Geiger counter connected to a computer? I need some raw data on Geiger counter pulse recovery...

Your local high school physics department probably has such equipment. Unfortunately the computer is likely to be a BBC, but hey... ;)

Darn. I'm sure someone out there on the net has a /dev/geiger for gettnig random number seeds.... but where. I can't remember...

John Walker? His site's a 'come for one thing, stay for hours' place that includes something very like this.

I've exchanged some email with him already about data from HotBits -

- he's sent me some data, but I don't know if he's up for collecting the data I need...

That's the ones!

No, I don't!

Hmm... not very useful I guess...

(old 'Life of Brian' gag, I think)

No, it's from The Black Adder (series one) Witch Smeller Pursuivant episode.

Aww, I knew someone would catch me out on that one.

Please explain

Are you looking for some secret random data or trying to determine experimentally some property of Geiger counter signals. If it's the latter, I don't see what property you might be after that would not be in a physics textbook and yet would apply to all Geiger counters.

The latter, in pursuit of the former. At the moment I'm at a stage where knowing experimentally the properties of even one Geiger counter would be very helpful.
