Fan

Too hot to think. Time to go and buy myself a fan.

Inspired by Marcus's LJ, I went and looked for my former fellow pupils online. God! My friends are often the top hits on their own names in Google. Some of my fellow pupils have not made an impact at all - zero hits! We really are the most fabulous people.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

The time to buy fans is in March. That way the shops actually have some in stock ;)

Good luck though.

I'm sure you have plenty of fans already! *grin*

Naah, I can't figure it out, what does the "CT" stand for? Or did you mean "CG"?

And what would such a flag look like?

[identity profile] duranorak.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Silly boy. Ciphergoth's Teenage Fan Club, obviously. That's what it always was! ~g~

I can tell you exactly what the flag looks like. It's black velour, and has the letters "CTFC" in the centre in bright red, written in a slightly haphazard fashion to suggest perhaps that they were written in lipstick. Sewn to the fabric, covering the rest of the flag, are very small pieces of mirrored glass.

Since you asked.

Ahh... I'd assumed it would be a big picture of ME! But yes, I can envisage it perfectly now. Thanks! :-)

I've just tried the same friend-surfing thing - very few hits.

However, abusing my position of access to a database of doctors, I've just found out that one of the most unplesant bullies in my school, who treated women as objects (even as a small boy being the type to get his willie out under the desk and tell the girls to look), has in fact qualified as a doctor. I'm going to find out where he's working and never live near there, ever.

[identity profile] feanelwa.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Alternatively you could alter the database and get him struck off...

[identity profile] wechsler.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, do you really want to say that in a public entry?

[identity profile] valkyriekaren.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
it's not a problem - I don't mention his name, or where I work.

Anyone who wanted to could find this information if they wanted to - lists of medical practitioners are freely available. It's just that I have access to a handy-dandy offline version of the database.

no darling, you kneel *for correction*.

heehee!

(though I do look terrible in that photo - ugh, double chin!)

[identity profile] ciphergoth.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry! My photos of you never seem to do you justice. Must Try Harder...

OK... if a camera can add a chin, paint shop pro can remove it. Try that link again ;)

(with the assistance of the lovely elf ;)

(having already had to remove a traffic cone, two glasses and a "toilets" sign(*), it made sense to keep going ;)

(*) From the *picture*, you deviants. Shurrup Marcus :p

Alternatively, unlike us, your schoolmates haves lives in the Real World. You remember the real world - the big windy place that isn't the terminal room. I can see it through a window from where I'm sitting. Now, if only I could find my way there . . .

[identity profile] aeia.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Was exactly what I was just thinking.. Is being on the net now a status symbol :)

[identity profile] ciphergoth.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
High Google karma is definitely a status symbol :-)

Coo, thanks in part to BiCon, I'm all of the first eight google hits... Now to work on getting nine and ten too :))

[identity profile] wechsler.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
My "Real Name" may be incredibly common, but just at the bottom of page 1, google provides a link to UKCN.

"Wechsler" just completely fails to show up.

[identity profile] wechsler.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
I tell a lie, my LJ appears on page 10

[identity profile] ruis.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Damn, and here was I thinking that I could aspire to being fabulous without have to get my name on the web.

[identity profile] treacletwit.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
By any measure I can devise, you are fabulous.

Other stuff too, but I can go on at times.

[identity profile] ciphergoth.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... could it be that all my former fellow pupils are, like yourself, v. fabulous but rather private? But for at least some of our friends searches on their names get work-related hits in the news media, since that's once place people tend to use their legal names...

[identity profile] ruis.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well they could be private people, have different online names or just have changed their name.

Or they could live in that parallel universe (you know the one, its out there somewhere) that doesn't involve media and internet recognition.

my friend lorelei paradise (yes this is her real name, and no, as far as i know, she is not a cheap porn star, tho she might well be these days) and about half my old school make it into a list of funny names compiled about chicagoans..
my other friend emily comes up as having recorded stuff by dizzy gillespie & geoge gershwin, during her stellar career as an arabic jazz singer at the age of 6 (i kid you not).
my communist pals come up constantly for being on trial, and also make it into the funny name list for being called Shawn Wall & A.K. Small (what a dynamic duo).

[identity profile] valkyriekaren.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
wow! I want to be called Lorelei Paradise. She sounds like she belongs in a Martin Millar novel!

I went to college with someone called Katherine Angel, which is pretty cool.

[identity profile] jhg.livejournal.com 2002-08-21 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
One of my best friends is called Richard Fortune.
